TLX RF LEAD ALTERNATIVE INSTALLATION GUIDE
Main Application
- Step or cover flashing at wall or chimney abutments

General Installation
- Laps should be no less than 50mm, use a roller to apply pressure
- Ensure TLX RF is only laid on dry, dust and oil-free surfaces
- Turn into brickwork joints or chase in by no less than 30mm; use sealant to seal the joint
- Where the joint is large or uneven, form a welt at the back of the joint and seal with sealant as above
- Use strips of TLX RF folded several times as wedges into brickwork to retain the flashing in place prior to sealing with sealant
- At top edge abutments use TLX RF to cover the slates by a minimum of 150mm and turn up wall by
- 75mm. Fix in brickwork joints as above
- At mansards, extend over slates on lower roof by a minimum of 150mm. Fit a lay board and tilting
- fillet to the upper roof and extend flashing 150 – 200mm up the slope; form a 30mm welt at the top
- Nail into position at the top at approximately 150mm centres
- For use as Saddles, Ridge/Wall junctions, fixing around roof outlets or with our top edge abutment ventilator
Front of the chimney
Cut TLX Roof Flash (chimney width + 5cm on each side)
Turn-up a minimum of 8cm up the vertical wall and apply to the tile hills.
Remove the liner from the upper adhesive side first, then from the lower side.
Cut in the lateral overlap and fold it to the side of the wall abutment.
Press firmly to the wall and roof tiles.
Mould TLX Roof Flash to the roof covering from the tile hill into the tile
valley with a pressure roller.
Depending on the type of roof covering, the process may need to be repeated several times.
Robust but careful forming is recommended for a correct and secure
weathertight seal.
Cut the length of the side strips to the minimum length (+ approx. 25cm)
Fold back to the required height of the flashing tape, and fix it bottom up.
Formation of the corner
Cut the lateral part with approx. 3cm overlap and apply it to the front side of the flashing.
Lead the cut to approx. 2cm above the underlying pantiles.
Repeat step 4 and 5 for the opposite side.
Saddle flashing
Cut the flashing tape to length for the chimney side directed to the ridge –
it should overlap the lateral flashing.
The overlap of the roof tiles above the chimney should be min.15cm; with
roof pitches under 15° it should be min. 20cm.
If necessary, broaden Roof Flash by banding the two cuttings to create
the ridge-sided connection.
The overlap of the cuttings should be min. 5cm.
Cut down the overlaps with approx. 3cm extra parallel to the chimney
edge, fix it to the chimney and apply from the outside inwards.
To avoid leaks, careful formation around the corners is important.
Seal the joints with the sealant.
